SPark_in_the_dark
Jun. 1st, 2002 01:13 pmSo guess what happened last night? The power went out! I was at work, having just finished sending a batch of documents through the scanner when everything went dark. My friend and co-worker, Lucy (aka Lucy-fer) who is scared of the dark (figure that, somebody as evil as she is, scared of the dark...) shrieked. I was just annoyed. We went home early, which was cool, but not too early, and we had to clean up and lock up everything in the dark. The emergency exit signs blinked so they didn't illuminate anything, they just kept my eyes from adjusting to the darkness. It was very annoying.
Then I get to my parent's house (Where the computer is) to find my family sitting around in the light of a coleman lantern and it dawns on me, I told Cajun I'd be on-line to talk to him, and yet with no power, there's no computer. Then a plan was hatched. I have a lap-top that runs on batteries, and even with the power down, the pone lines are still up. So I drove over to my place, risking life and limb, since the traffic signals are all out too, and got the laptop. I got on-line successfully, and the power came back before my battery died, so all was well!
So what's on the menu for today? A wedding! Yep, yet another one of my friends is getting married, this time it's one of my missionary companions from when I was in Ireland. I'm beginning to feel a bit alone on the singles scene, so many of my friends are married. Oh well, my time will come one of these days, though right now I sure don't have any prospects.
So I'm off to congratulate Darla on getting hitched. By the time I get back the house will be infested with teens, as two of my younger siblings are having a combined birthday party. After that's done with I'm headed across town to participate in a Halo tournament, whee, hee! There's going to be four X-boxes and a whole heap of players, and I'll get creamed right off, as I'm no good at it, but it will be fun. And sometimes in all that I've got to clean the mansion again... So that's my news for today. I won't be on for my usual middle of the nigh chatting, but a girl can't spend all her time on the computer.
