The holidays are coming...
Nov. 18th, 2006 12:22 am...and although I'm not at all ready to see Christmas stuff in stores, it IS a good idea to get a jump on buying presents. I already have several purchased.
Thus, I shall once again post the wish list meme.
STEP ONE
- Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.
- If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you. [Note: Your home address is not required!]
- Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ, or link to this post (it'll be public) so that the holiday joy will spread.
STEP TWO
- Surf around your friendslist (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:
- If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.
You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call. There are no guarantees with this project, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.
End Meme.
So............... I really don't know what I want. Most of what I need, I have. Thus, when I know others who have needs on their list, it seems strange to be putting mere wants. Nevertheless, I rather love the chance to give somebody something neat, and shall I deny that chance to anybody else who may have the opportunity? Thus, the list. A few things are expensive, a few things are cheap, none of them are things I really need, so don't bother to get them if you're strapped for cash. And, of course, go post your own list, so that you can share the love around.
Here's my list:
1. Windstone dragon bookends (Yes, half the list is going to be Windstones. Though I'm not going to bother putting the retired stuff I want on the list. Buying one of these would be enough of a bother, I certainly don't expect anybody to scour e-bay for one.)
2. Oriental Sun dragon Oh how I want this one! *drools* He's technically retired now, but has been retired for less than a month, so still easy to find.
3. Brown hatching emperor
4. Peacock spectral dragon (Also technically retired, as of just last week.)
5. Weird taxidermy/glass/doll eyes. Seriously! I want weird eyes.
6. An unpainted resin draft horse. This one, for examle. Or this *drools over it.* Oh man....
7. This pegasus. That seller always has one in stock. I know it's cheap Chinese crap, not a "real" resin, but I want it anyhow.
8. The set of horse minis listed here under "royalty free producs." (Or any horse/unicorn/pegasus minis, especially ones without tack.)
9. Spacebread. I loved this book as a kid. It probably will suck as an adult, but then again I enjoyed watching Unico as an adult, so maybe not.
10. New York brownie pocky. (I'm addicted, and I haven't yet tracked down a local source.)
Most of you reading this know how to get in touch with me. If you don't, you can drop a comment here.
