Shiny thing!
Dec. 12th, 2006 01:36 amI might be getting a new computer.
I rather want one.
In fact it is almost tempting to just pull money out of savings and buy it now, rather than wait until I've saved up for it. However, it is not a necessity, my current computer still functions, if somewhat buggily. Thus I shall do the responsible thing and wait.
I'll probably be getting it after FurtherConfusion, particularly if sales there are good. (If I do as well as I hope to do, I could make $2k, though that's my best case. Worst case is that I'll do about what I did last year, $800. I couldn't possibly do less, as last year I was unprepared, had crappy selection, and what I did have was largely in strange colors which don't sell well. So there's no way I can do worse this year when I'm coming prepared, with scads of natural tails, AND have Loonakits!)
Anyhow, do not ask me the specs on it, for I do not know. JJ is going to be assembling it for me, using some new bits, and some bits he's replaced when upgrading his current box. It will be very nifty and shiny! Though getting it to fit on the sorry excuse for a "desk" that I use (it's a fishtank stand, converted into a nightstand, being used as a desk,) shall be a fun challenge. We're getting a mini case, a tiny keyboard, a flat screen monitor, and a trackball.
It will still not be cutting edge. In fact it's going to be a few generations back. But it will be a good jump ahead of this laptop, and won't take up much more space than it, so I am pleased. I might even be able to game a little! Heck, I've actually been checking out an MMO. Though I don't know if I'll go that far. But being able to play something besides NES emulated games and Diablo would be nice.
