Sugarsugarsugarsugar!
Dec. 13th, 2006 06:45 pmSo after getting off to a not-so-good beginning, things went much better this afternoon. I got four packages today!
One was from Reaperminis, with my new paints, and yet another catalog. (I've got four now! Why do they include one with every order? They're huge, full-color magazines. They can't be cheap to print.) One was from Distinctive fabric, and was full of sparkle fur! I gave in and ordered some of every color they've got left. I'll probably be years and years using it all up, but it makes the BEST Loonakits, I'll have to put up some photos of the ones I've done with it. Then I got my Swiss Colony package, which had a large beef log*, some truffles, and a mint creme torte. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. And the last package was my Christmas care package from Mom. My mother is a little weird. She wanted to help me have a Christmas just like home, even though I'm not going home, I think. She included two tree shaped candles (she'd offered to mail me a fake tree, but I said no,) and a gingerbread house kit, a dehydrated clam chowder mix, (I think she forgot that last year I made the traditional Christmas Eve chowder for the whole family myeslf, from scratch,) and a new MoTab Christmas CD, which I'm quite pleased to get. Also an assortment of holiday candy, and some presents all wrapped, and my old Christmas stocking, with my name on it, that she made for me when I was three or so. And a tiny nativity in a globe. A tiny Precious Moments nativity in a globe.
Yes, I now own a Precious Moments item. And I can't sell it, or give it away, or otherwise get rid of it, because my mother gave it to me. I really wish she had any idea at all of my tastes. She knows I like some knick-knacks, and thus assumes I like them all. I don't. In fact, I hate Precious Moments. It's a style I simply cannot stand, and never have been able to. (No offense to anybody who loves it. I don't think it's evil, it's just not at ALL to my taste.)
But ah well. It wasa nice thought. And I will eventually be able to get rid of it, in a year or two, when I replace her kind gift with a nicer nativity. I mean, you don't need two nativity sets, right? Right.
Anyhow, Precious Moments or not, the packages were very cheering, and I'm feeling much better. Also, I have sugar!
* A big, long, Freudian chunk of meat. *wink*
