Kitty!

Just got back from the vet. Kitty is now hiding under the bed, instead of in the closet.

She hasn't got any hideous diseases, but she does have fleas, and is allergic to them, poor thing. I let Kali sniff her carrier with her in (and yes, it's a "her!") and they hissed at eachother, so it's going to take some time for them to get used to eachother. I still have them separated, even though I don't have to worry about Feline Lukemia etc. anymore. I figure it's best to go slow.

Anyhow, other than the fleas, and being a bit underweight (just 7 lbs, and though you can't see it under the fur, apparently very skinny,) she is completely fine.

Now I just have to think up a name for her.

Hmmm. 'Tis a thought!

My previous kitty, Kali, is a calico shorthair. Very sleek and classic looking. I know I have photos somewhere, but I can't find them just now.

New cat is a sealpoint longhair. Think siamese cat only poofy. Like a Himalayan or a Birman, but she's quite evidently not a purebred anything.

Yay! They are the prettiest cats ever. Mine looks a lot like that photo, except there's no white on her at all, just the cream body and seal points.

Just not Princess or anything to do with snow or the movie Lady and the Tramp or any other cat movies... Or Garfield. I have no desire for a long-haired cat, as I'm horrible at thinking up names for them. A random idea that popped in my head just now for a name suggestion: Connecticut. Or some city or state or country name.

No cities though, and no countries. She is going to be named after a deity of some kind, just like Kali. I just have to think up the right one.

I just had to make sure. I blink at the owner when I meet their cats with those names. A deity, huh? You interested in any South American ones? I hae a really cool book I could break out for you. Here. And I trust you to handle all the Greek mythologies, so I won't even try suggesting from that culture.

The Hindu goddess Kali is the first of the ten Mahavidyas - the others are Tara, Shodashi, Bhuvaneshwari, Bhairavi, Chinnamasta and Dhumavati, Matangi, Kamala and Bagla Mukhi. Therefore Kali is also known as Adya, the firstborn.

how about Tara? you never know... it might inspire peace while they get to know each other... I used to have a beautiful white cat named "peace" She was the most gentle, sweet patient cat ever.

or Bagla Mukhi? it sounds like a cute name... well, at least the "mooki" part at the end... but if it seems like this cat wants to be the boss, it might be appropriate.
