I saw David Copperfield today.

Not like “I saw him in passing in the street” saw, like “I paid money and sat in a theater” saw.

A few brief thoughts about the show:

1. Wow.

2. Wow some more.

3. CAR!

4. I had an “I’m not poor any more” moment! OMG I can afford to go see David Copperfield!

5. He thinks he’s pretty awesome, but...

6. ...he’s allowed to think he’s awesome, being as how he is. Also he is a genius. Not even kidding. CAR!

7. He really makes it with the ladies.

8. Also, show was really quite child-safe, but absolutely crawling with very fun innuendo. Pickles!

9. Wow.

10. HOLY FREAKING CAR!!!!!1

11. Did I mention Wow? And car?

He grabbed a bunch of people from the audience, had two of them hug pedestals on the ground, then set the rest up around the spot, holding a rope, "to make sure nothing comes from behind". Then he (and his helpers) put a sheet up over the spot flat over the pedestals, then used another sheet to form a box over it, and when he pulled the sheets away, there was a '47 Lincoln Convertable in the space, sitting on top of the pedestals that still had audience members holding on to them. Then he got in and turned it on.

So, um, yeah. OMGWTFBBQCAR.

Wow. The only exposure to Copperfield I've had is through television. Must be fantastic to get to see him live.

I got to see him when he did a show here in Louisville last year. Awesome, awesome show. Especially the part where he disappeared offstage then reappeared on a stand 3 rows behind where I was sitting. O_O

Have to agree on him thinking he's awesome, though. I did get a sense during the show that he was just a wee bit too self-assured of his own awesomeness. But then I thought, well it's not like the man hasn't earned it. He's worked hard to get where he is so I can allow a little pride there.
