I shouldn't.

I shouldn't!

But I have so many good excuses!

I might just have to...

(Curses, foiled again!)

I think all serious Windstone collectors are a little nuts. I would have bid almost that much, but I didn't quite have it.

The thing about them, though, is that due to how nuts we all are, you can always sell one for about what you paid for it, if not more.

They're my super emergency savings fund. After I'm forced to spend the cash hoarded, and the silver squirreled away, I sell the Windstones. Though I hope I never have to.

She is awesome. She is also HUGE. I have a spot ready and waiting for one like her, as soon as I can get one. I also have a spot ready and waiting for him (http://cgi.ebay.com/WINDSTONE-PROTOTYPE-OLD-WARRIOR-DRAGON-BLK-EM-PEACOCK_W0QQitemZ300076058731QQihZ020QQcategoryZ35873QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem) if I can manage to get him. But I wouldn't pay $1k for him, he's a fair bit smaller, and has tended to sell for around $500-ish.

The winning bid was $1,125?!

From: [identity profile] bladespark.livejournal.com
Yup. I had $1,100, but I had to include shipping in it, so I could only bid $1,076 So close, and yet so far away!

See my above comment about the sanity of serious Windstone collectors.

The day I learn to paint like that is the day I take up modelling.

I realise, of course, that it should really be the other way around. But who said I was practical?

They've started making the gold males as regular production items now. You can actually order one for a touch over $100.

Yeah, that about sums up my feelings on the subject too.

Though I /shall/ honestly say that working on a sculpt that's so good, (and so much bigger than most miniatures) is a large part of what makes those. 'Tis why I'm so enthused about the unpainted ones, and am eagerly awaiting the Keeper PYO, which is rather like the Secret Keeper, just smaller.
