We have to get our Secret Keeper first. But after that, maybe....

Anyhow, which of these fellows do you think looks more like my gorgeous self? Just considering facial features, not hair, because it's all wigs anyhow.

http://bladespark.topcities.com/art/darkangeltest.jpg There's me, if you can't recall.
http://bladespark.topcities.com/art/aidgrin.jpg is a good one of my twin, and as we look the same, save for the hair and the sense of style, it'll work too.

Here's the options we're looking at thus far:
http://img.dreamofdoll.com/co_img006/hsh933/etc/dodup.jpg Man, this one looks awesome, but the face shape may not quite be right, and it's a slightly younger look. Which is okay, but I dunno....
http://www.dollpeddlar.com/images/D1Yang.jpg does look a bit older, and the chin is right, I think, but I'm not so sure about the eye shape and the eyebrows, they're not arched at all.

Then there's this http://domuya.net/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1_29_4&products_id=8 which supposedly is the larger version of the Yang Jr, but it doesn't really look like it to me! The eyebrows are different, and the facial proportions are too. I like this one. And it's big. And expensive. But neat. I wish I could see what all these would look like with the correct wig on.

Anybody who knows much about ball jointed dolls is welcome to suggest one as well. So far I've just been following assorted google searches for them, and seeing what I turn up. And if and when I do get one, there will be a lot of work to do to get it right, as the outfit, and the wings especially, need to be just so. Heck, I could get two outfits and have myself and Rhiannon...

(Darkangel here, if you can't tell...)

He he he. Yeah, if they had one with the right facial shape, I'd be all over it. But none of them are quite right, and if I'm going to blow $300 or so on a doll, it needs to be perfect.

(Man, I'm developing expensive hobbies.)

ive been looking atthese for ages anf to be honest, youre really gonna be hard pressed to find one with a squared jaw and face shape youre wanting.

Not square! Just not round cheeked either. The Domuya one there has the perfect face shape, but the eyes and eyebrows are wrong.

if its the eye colour thats wrong, you can order any colour eyes, and the brows can be sanded off and applied they way ou like them. theyre very customizable! theyre like larger versions of Pullip dolls and if you like i can locate tutorials for customizing Pullips.

I know about eye color, I'm not looking at that. It's more the shape. And particularly the eyebrows, which if that's as readily changed as you say, is very good!

also, look at the dream of doll website and check out D.O.T section. Duncan and Camine are likely candidates i think. theyve got the best faces!

Hmmmm... duncan has very close to the right face shape, but he looks half asleep! Camine's pretty good too, but I think I'd have to tone down the eyelashes. I'd almost swear that was a girl. I mean... bishy is good here, but there's bishy and then there's "is a girl."

Camine is a boy, but yes, you can customize them and tone down the lashes yourself.

oh. look under D.O.T and youll see that theres 3 different faces to choose from and each is a different eye shape. hope that helps.

Ohhhhhh, bishounen... *drool*

I rather like the match in the big one (third link), the eye shape feels right to me, but not sure about its facial expression.

The eyebrows are painted on as part of the faceup. If you want to, you can opt for no faceup and have an artist you know do it, or do it yourself. DoD's faceups tend towards the garish, anyway, I hear.

You could poke around Den of Angels, Den of Demons, or Loose Joints to get a looke at more people's dolls or ask for opinions, too.

Ah. That's good to know. I was definitely going to opt for no pre-done makeup, because at least half of these look like they've got a black eye, or haven't gotten enough sleep, or something. I'm accustomed to painting things, so I can probably manage to put eyebrows on.

I did my little Lune's face myself, but he's leetle and cheap. I bought a faceup for Vaire from LUTS, and he came out pretty well. His lips are maybe a touch darker than I would have done, but I was leery of doing it myself for my first doll. If you purchase faceup from the company, you cn also specify what kind you'd like.

But seeing s how this doll is a cosply for a muse, you're probably better off doing it yourself so it's just right.

Yeah. I will probably take forever to get up the guts to do it! (I still haven't set brush to my Mulan horse, for much the same reason.) But acrylic comes off readily anyhow, so do-overs are easy enough if I screw up.

Doing this right is going to be a massive project anyhow. But I'm rather excited about the prospect.

I'm still probably eventually going to get a doll to make into a cosplay of my prime muse, but that's some ways off. I need to work on my pattern skills yet. Anyway, Vaire kind of arrived with his personality - well, that's a lie, actually. His personality arrived before he did, and is strong enough that it startles me just a little when he doesn't actually look up when I walk into the room.

I'm excited to see how yours goes, and I hope we'll get plenty of pictures. :)

I shall be sure to post lots!

But I have to get my Secret Keeper first, and that's still a good ways away, really. They haven't even released the next batch, and I've no idea what color they will be, nor if I'll be able to manage to snag one. I got an inside scoop that they haven't been able to solve their casting problems with them, and may never release them for regular production, and if this is the case I must get one soon, before the prices skyrocket even further, because once that word gets out, all those who are currently not bothering to bid, waiting for the cheaper regular production ones to come out will join in the bidding, and it's going to get crazy. Thus, must do that first.

*ahem* Sorry, Windstone addiction spilling all over the place there. I could go on about Windstones for hours and hours...
