Yep. Led Zeppelin. Rock legends, pioneers of metal, huge, gigantic GEEKS.

(They're not the only ones either. My collection of classic rock is suspiciously peppered with sci-fi and fantasy referances. Including such names as Deep Purple, Aerosmith, and Blue Oyster Cult, to name a few of the other bands who seem rather geeky.)

I was just listening to the nightfall on middle earth album by Blind Guardian. Very good stuff.

But counting the tolkien references in rock would take forever @.@ Expand it to all of fantasy and scifi, and... heh, they often sprouted from the same types of mind.

Was it Blue Oyster Cult who had the huge song with ring wraiths in like the seventh verse (I don't know, it was a long song)?

Plus, they had Godzilla. That's pretty geeky, right there.
