Third time's the charm.

Yet again we thought we knew what was wrong with my computer, and YET AGAIN we got it all "fixed" only to see it do the exact same stupid thing.
So after a LOT of testing and work *smooches wonderful JJ for doing it* we're pretty sure we actually know what it is this time. Aaaaaaaaaaaaand back we go AGAIN to get new stuff and try once more.
If it doesn't work after this I'm going to have to kill somebody. Preferrably somebody involved in the manufacture of the various computer bits involved, but if I can't find one of them, somebody else will do.
