So.... finances are up some, but still not great. And I haven't yet bought tickets to fly to Anthrocon. It's $800+ to get JJ and I both there, and immediately after Anthrocon we have BoardieCon followed by a massive road trip which alltogether is going to cost something close to $1k from each of us. Admittedly I may well profit enough from AC to afford BC easily. But then I may not! To risk it, or not to risk it?

The alternative is to cancel AC, get a refund of my booth fees, and go to a later furry con like MFF. MFF is smaller than AC, but still large enough that I'd turn a profit, and it's actually at a hotel, not a convention center, plus I'm fairly certain I could room with somebody I know there. *grin*

So now I'm wondering who else I'll know at these cons. Thus, a poll.

[Poll #960054]

Edited to add - Boardie con will in no way be affected by this at all! This is about furry con choices.

We'll be at MFM this year, it's the one I can't miss.

For some reason I thought you went to MFF. Looking at the website it seems that MFM is very small? *confused now*

I guess the problem with MFM is that it's too close to Boardiecon, I'd only have just gotten back, and heaven knows what my finances would be like. Nonexistant, probaby.

Yikes! If you are going to cancel BoardieCon, can you let me ASAP so that I can change my travel plans?

Meep! No, BoardieCon will NOT be cancelled, come hell or high water I'll be there, it'll be on! I was just debating if I'd have to cancel AC in order to make BC, is what I was saying.

Phew! I mis-read it as the other way around - that you were debating cancelling BC if you didn't make as much as expected at AC.

Thanks!

Actually, I was probably going to go out to Chicago this summer for a gaming/comic convention, since I can crash with a friend out there.

JJ have any recommendations for stuff to do in Chicago? (After seeing that Photo Meme, I'm almost afraid to ask...) *grins*

Silly.

I highly reccommend hitting the various musems. The natural history museum is awesome (Sal the T-Rex is there, among other spiffy things,) and the art museum is pretty neat too.

Lincoln Park Zoo is cool. I hear that the Museum of Science and Industry down southside is neat, but I never made it there. If you've got the cash, get a couple restaurant guide books and find something local that sounds awesome. (For relatively inexpensive steak and the best burgers known to man, for instance, you want the Select Cut Steakhouse at Diversey and Halstead [Take the Red Line EL]).

Plus the museumery that SPark already mentioned. Admission isn't too bad for any of them.

While I'm not going to any cons, I guess I'm randomly throwing in my two cents anyway... Anthrocon is larger than MFF, so you would probably turn a larger profit there than you would at MFF. But then again that's my logic >_>

Actually AC is in both a hotel and convention center. Image

I'll be at [livejournal.com profile] furfright in October. Maybe others if I can afford them.
