I got an unexpected package in the mail today. I couldn't figure out what it was! But when I opened it, I found this:

It's from the Windstone PYO exchange! And I'm very pleased. I'd been half afraid I'd get something from the fellow who insists on using olive drab tones and then adding glitter to them! Anyhow, it is bright and colorful and fun. Were it by me I'd have done the butt differently, but it's still quite spiffy.

I guess this means I should probably get going on my piece for the exchange...

The Windstone Paint Your Own exchange. There's a group of us, about 30 this time, who all love doing PYO statues, and who all hang out on the Windstone forums, who decided to do a swap. Draw names, paint up figures, and send them out. You don't know who's making yours until it comes, though of course you know who you're making one for. Mine's been sitting half finished for weeks, I've been too busy!

Oh? Got a link? I like that sorta thing, but I've never heard of these. Course, the only thing I've really painted like that thus far have been ceramics.

Found you randomly through the windstone editions lj. Glad to see I'm not the only one who was half afraid to get a piece with glitter. That really is a spiffy griffin though. I'm still working on my piece for the swap too.

Heee. The swap is way too cool!

I just worry a little bit... it's not that bad if you get an awful one, you can always just quietly repaint it and not say anything, but what happens if somebody doesn't come through?

Hopefully everybody will though!

I'm glad I decided to join up this time. I rememeber someone expressing that very same worry about someone not coming through in the 2nd PYO swap thread. I don't know if anything was decided either. Definately I hope everyone comes through in the end. We still have a lot of PYOs that haven't been sent out yet. Mine's fairly close to being done, just a little more work then I can send it on its way. Oh the piece you are working on for the swap sounds cool!

Hah! Glad I'm not the only one too! I really don't wany a windstone with glitter on it.

Very pretty painted statue there. Add another gryphon to the collection, then. Have some idea of what you're going to be painting for your swap partner?

Yeah, it's about a third done, actually. A ki-rin, base black with a mane and tail painted like fire. I like fire patterns, if you can't tell.

Hrm. I like the idea, and think that I've seen patterns like that elsewhere. Nightmare, maybe?
