Okay, so I'm going to collect ponies. I give in! I still have my original four, of course, and now my Pink custom, and the various in progress customs lying about, but I've decided that yes, I'm going to collect non-custom pones.

But only very specific ones. If I just ran around collecting at random, I could end up with hundreds, thousands even, and not have a complete set! I want a list that there's an end to, that I can get down to the point where I'm looking for half a dozen of the rare ones and that's it. And really most of the ponies I see interest me not at all. They were nice when I was a kid, but I still have the ones I was actually sentimental about. Though I suppose actually I would also like a blue baby ember. I had her as a kid, and lost her. I suspect my brother of doing something horrible to her and then hiding her so I wouldn't find out.

But anyhow, I'm going to collect male ponies. They're the least common broad category, they're the look I like best anyhow, and they're the least girly and froofy as well. I'm also going after families. I took a quick look through a couple of pony guides, and compiled a list.

There 'tis. Now I need a pony icon, for pony posts... Until I get one, the marching hammers will have to do. It's related. *grin*

Sorry Spark...

I'm really sorry that I haven't been keeping up with your entries bladespark. I really mean to, but you had so many and I've been really busy with all my art exchange work and a new crappy scanner *kicks scanner again, which this time beeps happily, then explodes*. Also, I'm trying to write in my journal, learn Japanese, practice anthro art and perspectives, all while trying to keep friends first. I saw your ebay entry, and the ones about your windstone repainting, and costs. I'm still sorry about your appliances, and it really sucks when those darn zombies start to attack. Anyway, I'll try to keep up from now on.

...okay, this is probably going to sound a little rude, but I don't care. Read my stuff if you like, don't read it if you like. Read it one week at a time. Read only every third entry. Read it on alternate Sundays. I really don't care!

That entry is so much better if you replace ponie with penis.

You know....I used to have Salty, and my brother had Chief. And most of them went to my mom's daycare. I'll ask and see if she still has those two, but I bet all accessories are long gone; though I know I had Salty's hat as of a few years ago.

That would be awesome. The hats are nice, but I don't really care that much about them.

Well, looks like Chief belongs to the daycare now; he was my brother's, so I can't exactly reclaim him. Salty, however, I should be able to get for you. Mom's located the hat but not the pony. *L* I'm sure he's around somewhere though. I have a few others that I'm not sure what their names are or if you're interested; I'll see if I can find them and show you what I have.

You are awesome!

If you want to identify a pony, there's a guide here: http://www.kimsites.net/dreamvalley/id_intro.html

Although if it's a boy (clydesdale) pony I can identify it for you. I don't think there are any floating about that I don't know.

The only two boys we had were Salty and Chief, I'm afraid.

So, I have Baby Blossom, and at one point I had all of her accessories, I might still be able to find the bottle, bib, and rocker. Sweetheart Sister Wildflower, Twinkle Eye Masquerade, and So Soft Scrumptious. though if I remember rightly she's pretty dirty. Not sure what else I have, I think the only ones on your list that I have are Salty and Chief. Next time I'm over at my mother's I'll look through them more thoroughly.

Spiffy. If the girls are getting played with or enjoyed where they're at, I don't want to take them, really. (Though if they're just in a box, I wouldn't mind having them at all.) But I do definitely want the boys.

ooh good luck! that list is expensiiiiiiiive.
particularly the mountain boys, the baby boys and tux.

From: [identity profile] bladespark.livejournal.com
Well, put it this way... I've been told you can find Mountain boys, if you're willing to look for them, wait, and be patient, for around $30. And there's nothing on that list that's going to cost more than that, really.

$30 is the least I have paid for a Windstone, with one single exception.

This is still a MUCH cheaper hobby.

ice crystal (in decent condition) usually doesnt sell for under 80. i sold my good/great condition Icey for 120.

and Tux tends to be right around that range too.

He he he. Guess my collection's probably going to be incomplete for a while then. That's okay.

These are the ones I want. There's no point in my collecting ones I don't want, just because they're cheap.

oh i absolutely agree!

i wasnt trying to talk you out of it, nor was i trying to talk you into collecting certain ponies because theyre cheaper. ;)

when i browse for G1s, im looking for specific ponies i had when i was a little girl. :) theres one in particular...she was my first ever pony. when we lived in Hawaii, my mum found her at a yard sale and got her for me.

she was brown with blonde hair and white symbols. she was a Macau pony, Macau ponies are considered "Nirvana" ponies and i so desperately want her back. :( im going to track one down...shes my ultimate grail! :D

That's awesome! I just spotted a near mint blue ember on ebay... it's tempting me. That was the only mail order pony I got. Though I don't know why, I had plenty of pony points to order others, I just never did!

I've read through the list and the footnotes; what's a bait pony?

Date: 2007-06-15 03:53 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] bladespark.livejournal.com
Ah. Bait pony is "custom bait." It means there's something wrong with the pony that's not fixable, or is very noticeable, like marker scribbled on it, or the hair having been cut, or the ear gnawed off, so it's only good to be done over as a custom, not worth collecting otherwise.

Oh. Got it.

I like the babies best. I have a set of baby twins and a 'first tooth' pony and I played them to death while pretty much ignoring the rest.
Eventually, I want to fix those three up just so they can hang around and look nice. I actually went as far as cleaning and priming them :P But I have to figure out a colour scheme before I bother going any further.

I like the babies better than most of the adults. But the boys are definitely my favorites.

Hello Sister I thought perhaps I would get you a pony for your birthday While I can't garantee getting any of them but I've found 3 that I can afford (assuming they dont' get bid up a whole ton) so do you have a preferance between Baby Drummer, Baby Countdown, or Baby Paws?

I used to have some of the baby ponies. Don't remember which ones now.
I remember that I had Lucky, though. I think he was my favorite. ^_^
