Ponies, life, stuff like that.
Jun. 24th, 2007 01:00 amIf anybody's been wondering where I've been lately, this week I've had a Father's Day party, three birthday parties, and two days helping JJ house sit. So, yeah. And, of course, trying to not get too far behind on work. *sigh*
But today I did take time, in addition to sewing etc., to hair a pony.

Happy Birthday Harli. (Better late than never, right?) She'll be on her way, along with some wings, a playset, and a couple other ponies, sometime next week.

Date: 2007-06-24 10:39 am (UTC)How do you get the good finish on your paint?
I think I am going to buy some cheap MLP knock-offs to experiment with...

Date: 2007-06-24 10:44 am (UTC)One I work with Reaper Master Series miniatures paints, which are thin, and I use several layers. This way you don't get blobby brush strokes ruining the effect. Either buy miniature paints, or thin regular acrylic with a thinner (don't just use water if you can avoid it) and have lots of layers.
Another thing is I finished it with a matte sealer. There are actually brush strokes on there, but the matte sealer doesn't accentuate them the way a gloss does, and it gives a very nice almost flat but not quite sheen. Semi-gloss or satin looks pretty good too. (I use Golden brand, which is spiffy stuff, but costs $$$.)

Date: 2007-06-24 05:21 pm (UTC)I'm planning to experiment with the same finish I use on my polymer clay, since it gives a great gloss finish with no brush strokes, but I'm not sure how it will work on the softer plastic of the ponies.
