(In fact the last three days in a row have been those sort of days, really.)

I got a collections agency bill from Juno for an account called "stephanieparkx1@juno.com" Funny thing is I've NEVER, ever, ever, ever used any Juno services, and I ALWAYS get account names involving spark, I'd never use my full name for one, and if I have to add on a number or something because what I want is taken, I have a number of things I'll ad, and x1 is not one of them. So it's definitely not my account, but they want my money anyhow. Grr.

Also, my hair clippers have died. I went online to the manufactuer, to find out how much replacement blades cost, as the blades are the thing that's broken. A set of replacement blades costs $10.99. An entire new clipper kit, with combs and case and everything is $15.99. When you factor in that the blades aren't sold locally, it's cheaper for me to just buy a whole new clipper. Which I shall. But I found that rather funny.

Also, also, my freaking apoxie sculpt still isn't here! But somehow I managed to miss getting a package at some point this week, so hopefully that's it, and I can go pick it up at the post office. I'd be picking it up today, but of course I forgot to check the mail until after five.

I find it interesting (ie annoying) that hair clippers are so much cheaper in the US. I had to pay $30 (at a warehouse outlet) for a small set suited for detail work on short fur and closer to $60 for pet clippers strong enough to hack through fur on their own.

I also don't have my apoxie clay, but I know it's hiding in this house somewhere..

*darts eyes warily*

It's a special kind of clay which I use in my costumes sometimes.

That first one sounds like some kind of scam.

Yeah. I figure there's three things it could be.

1. I am horribly absent minded, have somehow forgotten this, somehow signed up under a random name I'd really never used, but it's legit. Not at all likely, but dimly possible.

2. Scam. Somewhat possible, but phishing through actual, physical mail is a bit odd. They only say they want $19, this is not enough for it to be profitable, so they'd have to be after my credit card number.

3. There is, out there, some other Stephanie Park, and this is her problem which has somehow been pinned on me. That's what I suspect is the most likely option. If the stupid terrorist no-fly list can't differentiate between people with the same name, how can one expect a third-rate ISP to do so?

Although there's actually 4. which is that the only person I know of who uses Juno signed me up to get revenge on me. About a .0001% chance of it being that, as it's not his style, but the thought crossed my mind.

Mmm, I missed that it were snail mail, so I'll switch my suspicion to #3 as well. It's not too uncommon a sort of name, so they probably just screwed up in some office somewhere.

Well, I didn't say specifically. It's HIGHLY annoying in any case, especially as Juno has NO contact information available on line, and the bill only came with a phone number for the collections people, which gets me a message about how to pay them, which is not even a proper answering machine, and which has no "push 1 for this" options that may lead to a live person.

Very, very irritating.

... I still say scam. Just because it's snailmail, doesn't make it less likely. Especially in the absence of contact address.

http://samspade.org/whois/juno.com has what should be contact phone numbers for Juno.

I'd suggest pestering those numbers until you get through to someone who can tell you what is going on. Do you have a name for the debt company, and what is the phone number they gave?

"United online collections division." They say they're affiliated with Juno and netzero. The nuber is 1-866-210-1700, and they give a PO box in California as their address. They say that any disputes must be filed in writing, so I'm writing 'em. I'm NOT going to pay it, nor give them my credit card info. But on the off chance that it is legit, or at least an honest mistake, I'd really rather not ruin my credit history over $19. So I figured mailing a dispute would be the way to go.
