Set your playlist on randomize, list a lyric from the first 25 songs that come up (without cheating) and invite people to guess the song. GOOGLING IS CHEATING. Public recognition and its attendant glory for the first to correctly name the song and artist.

1.) Raised on songs and stories, heros of renoun. The passing tales and glories, that once was Dublin town.

2.) She can lead you to love, she can take you or leave you. She can ask for the truth but she'll never believe you. And she'll take what you give her as long as it's free.

3.) Requiem aeternam dona eis, Domine: et lux perpetua luceat eis. Te decet hymnus Deus in Sion, et tibi reddetur votum in Ierusalem: exaudi orationem meam, ad te omnis caro veniet.*

4.) Take off your shoes take off yourself, take off your inner mental health. Take off your raincoat, settle down. Take off your nightmare and your frown.

5.) Now I know your heart, I know your mind. You don't even know you're bein' unkind. So much for all your highbrow Marxist ways. Just use me up and then you walk away. Boy, you can't play me that way.

6.) Hear the lark and harken to the barking of the dog fox gone to ground. Hear the splashing of the kingfisher flashing to the water.

7.) Did a large procession wave their torches as my head fell in the basket, and was everybody dancing on the caseket?

8.) When through the woods and forest glades I wander, and hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees. When I look down, from lofty mountain grandeur, and hear the brook, and feel the gentle breeze.

9.) Trouble ahead, trouble behind, and you know that notion just crossed my mind.

10.) You're on my fingers, you're on my paper. We're close to far, here we are, there you are. You're on my weak heart, my heart is tissue. My heart's a scar, here we are, there you are.

11.) Well she moved down here at the age of 18. She blews the boys away, was more than they'd seen. I was introduced and we both started grooving, said I dig you baby be we've got to keep moving.

12.) His brain is overloading, it has a chocolate coating. Textbook case for Sigmund Freud.

13.) But who can decide what they dream, and dream I do.

14.) Fragile like a rose on the snow, eating all your strength and your money. Walking in the shades day and night, never letting sunshine in your eyes like before.

15.) And if your train's on time you can get to work by nine and start your slaving job to get your pay. If you ever get annoyed, look at me I'm self-employed. I love to work at nothing all day.

16.) He come from the glory, he come from the Glorious Kingdom! Oh yes believer! Oh yes believer!

17.) A little girl asked me what am I gonna' do, when I get old and blue and worn clear through? And I say by that time I ought to be in my prime, I'm gonna' strut like a cock until I'm ninety-nine.

18.) I haven't changed my underwear in 27 days, and when I'm kissing you I fantasize you're a midget.

19.) I don't want a pizza, I don't want a piece of peanut brittle, I don't want a pear. I don't want a bagel, I don't want a beet. I wouldn't like a bag of beef or a beer, or a cup of cheddar, corncake or creamed cauliflower.

20.) You stand in the line just to hit a new low. You're faking a smile with the coffee to go. You tell me your life's been way off line, you fall into pieces every time.

21.) Though I respect that I a lot, I'd be fired if I that were my job, after killing Jason off and countless screming Argonauts.

22.) In a coming day, I will close my weary eyes. In a coming day I will leave this mortal life.**

23.) The typical city involved in the typical daydream. Hang it up and see what tomorrow brings.

24.) I don't know how you were diverted. You were perverted too. I don't know how you were inverted. No one alerted you.

25.) I took the road that brought me to your home town. I took the bus to streets that I could walk down. I walked the streets to find the one I look for. I climbed the stair that led me to your front door.

I skipped songs only when they were purely instrumental. One or two of these have more than one artist who's done them. Any will do. On one song I myself do not know the artist.

*There is more than one song out there with this lyric.

**If anybody gets this one, I will be shocked. There are TWO results for it on google, is how obscure it is. Googling it is still cheating though!

Edit - I was putting up the answers, but some people are having fun identifying even the ones already found, so I'll list 'em at the bottom instead. (Some are being identified over in IRC, if you're wondering where the comments went.)

Can't even begin to guess most of 'em, but number Nine is definitely the Grateful Dead's Casey Jones

Um... Yeah, obscure... I don't know any of these. So if I google, it's after having admitted that I don't know! :)

There is one recent chart hit on there, and a couple of things that have appeared on the charts in the last decade or so, but many of them are only commonly known if you're really into classic rock, and many others are Mormon/Christian/Geek/Just plain obscure.

Hey, probably no more obscure then some of my Japanese pop...

With number 22, I don't know the artist or the song, but isn't it a Slovakian band? *braindead from too much work*

Nope, the guy who wrote that is from Idaho. Or lived in Idaho when he wrote it, at least.

Holy crap xD Since I guessed wrong, I decided to google the lyrics and find out who it was... Suddenly, the first result is YOUR JOURNAL.

Also, I don't think I could do this with my list. Right now, too many songs don't have any lyrics xD

#7 is They Might Be Giants, and it's from Flood, but I can't remember the song title. (Or find my archived file of TMBG songs...)

Indeed it is. There's a couple of TMBG songs on there, actually.

7: TMBG - Now it's over I'm dead and I haven't done anything that I want, or I am still alive and there's nothing I want to do.
12. Freakazoid, Freakazoid!
19. TMBG - I'm just waiting for the dinnerbell to do the bell thing!
21. TMBG - Bluebird of friendliness, like a guardian angel it's always near. Blue canary in the outlet by the lightswitch who watches over you! Make a little birdhouse in your soul.

3. Requiem by Mozart, first movement I believe. Been a while since I've sung it...
6. Grantchester Meadows by Pink Floyd. I hope looking up the song name in my own playlist isn't too "cheating," knowing songs by their individual title from Ummagumma is a bit rough. Well, except Several Species of Small Furry Animals Gathered Together in a Cave and Grooving with a Pict... :D

It's actually John Rutter's Requiem, not Mozart's. That specific latin text is used in a LOT of different songs.
