Costume Con 2008
Aug. 3rd, 2007 05:39 pmI just booked my room for Costume Con 2008. It's in SanJose, at the very same Doubletree that hosts Further Confusion every year.
I have myself and JJ in there, but there's room for two more, so if anybody's interested in rooming with me, drop me a line.
If you need more info about Costume Con, you can visit the CC26 website or just ask me about it!
Edit - FC roomies called off on account of STUPID. I was an idiot, now can we all QUIT RUBBING IT IN?

Date: 2007-08-04 01:40 am (UTC)CC is $85 just now. (It's one of the more expensive cons. It'll be $100 at the door.) It's April 25-28, 2008.
FC you may know already, it's $40, and is Jan 24-28.

Date: 2007-08-04 01:55 am (UTC)Furry really isn't the hugest thing in my life, but costuming appeals to me like none other! :3
I'd love to attend, it would just be so fun! I'd like to experience a costume convention ahead of a furry convention.

Date: 2007-08-08 01:48 am (UTC)We're trying to convince the fursuiters that they're really welcome at Costume-Con. I expect in San Jose we'll have more fursuiters than usual, because there are more local fursuiters.
There's usually been a good balance between historical and SF/Fantasy costume at Costume-Con, and the professionals are definitely in the minority. The SF/Fantasy competition has always been bigger than the Historical competition. Check out The Costume-Con Visual Archives (http://www.costume-con.org/) to get a feel for the competitions in other years.
That said, this is California, and there will be a huge number of historical costumers at CC26.

Date: 2007-08-04 01:53 am (UTC)I can't seem to find on the site about how early it starts on the 25, and what time it ends on the 28... could you please tell me? (that's CC)

Date: 2007-08-04 02:07 am (UTC)My experience is that things won't get swinging much at all on the 25th, just an intro party maybe, but most events will be on the 26 and 27, with a last few things before noon on the 28th, with most people driving/flying home that afternoon and evening.

Date: 2007-08-08 01:42 am (UTC)I can tell you rough times for start and finish.
Hospitality suite and registration will probably be open already Thursday evening.
Dealers room opens on Friday morning, programming starts around lunchtime. Big social Friday night.
Programming winds up on Monday afternoon, with the "Mouskerade" (dress your stuffed animal for a silly costume competition) at the Monday night post-con party in hospitality.

Date: 2007-08-04 08:05 am (UTC)It looks like (with the insane 10.06% tax) $49 or so per night (for half). Cash or check at the con works fine, cash preferred if only so I can spend it there on things. ^_~
And no, I don't think you not getting a room in the Doubletree was due to stupid. I procrastinated and even kept checking to see if I still could, and tried waiting until after I found roommates to book room. It ended up selling out the day I finally decided to give up and get one anyway, before they even had it on the FC website (it took 2-3 days for the news to be put up). Last year they kept saying how many rooms were left even for quite a while until they did sell out. This year they seemed to without warning. Thankfully they seem to be moving to a bigger hotel for 2009, so we'll see how things go for that.
Very happy to have you aboard, let us know if there are any questions you have or any concerns you want to address prior to the con! It will be quite good to see you again, too.
