The home-grown threat.

It seems that having America terrified of Islamic fundamentalists from the middle east just isn't good enough any more. We now have to make sure America is terrified of its own citizens as well. I'm currently all of three paragraphs into this, and I've already spotted several instances of severe idiocy. I'm sure I'll find many more. But honestly... could the baseless fear-mongering here be any more blatant? As far as I know there has not been one single instance of a home-grown terrorist attack on American soil since 9-11, and precious few before then. And I can only think of a bare, tiny handful of attacks elsewhere in the western world. Apparently we're supposed to be cowering from the bogeyman now. He's just as real as home-grown Islamic radicals are.

And don't even get me started on the internet thing. Middle aged dinosaurs in suits running around going "ZOMG! INTERNETS!" really is starting to get old. My grandpa managed to adapt to the internet age, you guys. Get witht he times.

Sheesh. I'd ask "how stupid do they think we are" but alas some of us are, sadly, pretty stupid.

I know this is slightly off-topic, but like in your journal entry title, what do those series of unintelligible vowels and consonants mean?

I've made leaps and bounds considering that I just started using the internet last year (it was a phobia thing...) but this one just has me stumped...

What he said. It means I am so gobsmacked that when I try to say something about this, only gibberish came out at first.

gods will the fear mongering never end? Honestly it's like a constant stream of terror - not from the terrorists but from the powers that be!

Who should they recruit to open this new front on the "war on terror?" Let us look at the normal standard required:- bad leadershiop, terrible communication, always hitting the wrong target, generally making things worse and lots of collateral damage.

Why, sixapart - I think we have a job for you!

I probably shouldn't have laughed at it, but I did.

It's one of those "if you didn't laugh, you'd cry" kinds of things, really.

Spy on your neighbor, citizen. Report him or her if he starts behaving like a communist terrorist. If you don't, one day they'll kill you, or rape you, or kidnap your children and raise them to be suicide bombers.

Because, you know, everyone in the country hates the government enough to want to bring it down by force and terror, rather than through the constitutionally provided methods.

Cripes, this is making me long for the days when the knuckleheads thought that the Internet was a series of tubes.

What happened to the leaders that thought we had nothing to fear but fear itself? Blar.
