Today's progress

Finished a headframe today, save for the eyelids and ear bases. Dunno when I'll have time to fur it, packing is starting in earnest, and I have a whole laundry list of small commissions I really should finish this week.

It's a flying squirrel in a slightly cartoony style. Going to be a full suit, so I get to make wing membranes, which shall be rather fun and interesting to do.

Huh. Fascinating to look at the raw materials you use for these things, but if you told me what that plastic mesh stuff that you do kiddy sewing crafts with is called, I wouldn't recognize it.

It's called plastic canvas. Somewhat useful, if you don't have a very large load to bear.

Jargon is a funny thing. Every little sphere of activity has its own little dictionary, that makes perfect sense to its denizens and no sense whatsoever to anyone else. F'rinstance, when I read the words "Finished a headframe" my first reaction was a surprised "Why on earth would SHE be building one of THOSE". For I know what a headframe is, in one of my worlds, the world of industrial archaeolgy. It looks like THIS...
