I have met a real psychopath. I've probably known a few others, they say that one in a hundred people is one. But it's not always obvious. Most of them blend in fairly well, particularly on casual acquaintance. But I have, finally, met somebody where I can confirm, and others agree, that he meets the definitions and shows the behaviors.

It's very fascinating, in a "poke it with a stick" kind of way.

I'm still glad I didn't friend him back though. Meeting one and seeing his psychopathy manifest itself second hand is interesting. Getting stalked by one first hand wouldn't be much fun.

Everybody knows a bad psychopath when they see one- for one, they're afraid of him.

Nobody knows a good psychopath when they see one- for one, they're not.

What scares me more is sociopaths, they're a little harder to pin down and less common it would seem. I've only ever met one, and that one is my biological mother. I _know_ her, and she fits the description. I'm just thankful it doesn't seem to be genetic, or at least it didn't get passed down to me.

The other 4 of 'us kids' though, I dunno.

According to that wiki article, the distinction between a psychopath and a sociopath is a matter of how they got that way, not how bad they are.

A psycopath has no empathy or compassion. They feel nothing for or about other people. It's all the same to them whether you're happy or sad or even dead, all that matters is that they get what they want, and they will use, abuse, and manipulate everybody around them with no sense of guilt whatsoever.

Thankfully, I'm perfectly normal.

I just play a psycho in reality.

Huh. I think I know one. Unfortunately, I got to watch her behaviors unfold from close range.

Huh. Interesting. I think I knew someone who could be cetegorized as a psychopath.

Hmm... was this person diagnosed? Or are you assuming psychopathy based solely on your observed behaviour? I'm pretty sure that the official diagnosis includes having criminal history.

I don't know about an official diagnosis, but he has a date rape and a dishonorable discharge from the military in his history.
