Double dose of gross. (Read on at your peril.)

1. It's that time of the month. Bleah. I am very much crampy and icky and bleeding.

2. I'm feeding Anthony right now, and his mouse is, er... it's nasty. I feel sorry for him. I'm starting to seriously consider buying on line in bulk shortly, because the Petco mice are disgusting. Firstly, they reek of mouse poop/urine/whatever. So they're almost certainly raised in inhumane conditions, to smell that bad. And secondly, they're very bloody. As in whever means they used to kill them probably also wasn't humane, because things killed quickly don't bleed much, and anyhow gassing and most other good methods don't cause bleeding at all. And that's gross too. Ugh. I feel sorry for the poor snake, and also for the poor mouse. I don't mind the thought of mice getting killed for snake food, I eat meat myself, but I sure don't like the thought that they probably died more painfully than they should have.

So it's time to shop around and see what kind of online deals I can find for frozen mice. Anthony should be on adult mice for quite some time now, so I can get a fair number and not have too many.

Ah HA!!! see, i knew you didn't want a mouse to have more pain than was needed while being killed. :-P

...what the flip are you talking about? I would think THAT would be bloody obvious. Just because I don't run around screaming at people who live feed doesn't mean I like animal suffering, you know.

sorry, i was making a joke about your earlier post where you said, something like, 'they're rodent's... maybe it's the cat in me, but they deserve to suffer a bit.'

i didn't think you would take that as a serious comment. that's why i put the rasberries smiley there.

I don't speak smiley. A raspberry can very well be "Ha, I was right" and not "Ha, I'm kidding" you know.

well... I'm usually pretty paranoid about starting drama, and I figured you were someone who knew that, and would know that I'm usually lighthearted in my comments. It was wrong of me to assume you knew that... apparently the font I used was audible to someone else... audibly smug... which kinda makes me chuckle. It truely was inteded as a "see, I knew you were just being silly with your comment before"

Yeah, sorry. I'm tired, and I tend to take things literally even when I'm not.

not a problem. hopefully, if we have enough of these misunderstandings we'll figure out how to read each other better... and perhaps avoid more misunderstandings... :-)

Has anyone ever told you that a smug-sounding "I told you so! See I was right!" is more likely to annoy and put off people than convince them of anything?

sorry if everyone misunderstood... i was saying that i knew she was joking about what she said in a post going back some time ago. the intended tone in that was silly, not smug.

It came across as fur-raising rather than amusing.

ok. well, you're welcome to read it however you choose... it was meant for someone else.

Rodentpro is pretty much the gold standard as far as frozen/prekilled goes.

The [livejournal.com profile] rawdogs community has a resource list for frozen whole prey items that miht be useful.

Gonna have to second Rodentpro, great place, great service, and nice -clean- mice. Been buying from them for years and no complaints.

Mice Direct if you absolutely HAVE to have mice like...tomorrow.

I was just wondering. Ours only has mice from the one supplier, they don't seem to be specifically a Petco brand though, so I wondered if maybe yours got some from somewhere else.
