The holidays are upon us!
Nov. 10th, 2007 09:26 pmIt's not looking like I'm going to have the time or money to do much in the way of gift-giving this year, but I may try and send a few things to a few people. We'll see how it pans out. Anyhow! It's that time again. Time for the Christmas wish list meme thingy!
Christmas wish list thing
Step One
- Make a post (public, friends locked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.
- If you wish for real-life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.
Step Two
- Surf around your friends list (or friends friends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:
- If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.
You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.
There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.
My wishes:
1. Art! Art of my characters is ALWAYS good. I have a whole heap of references and examples right here. (Doesn't have to be like the Sistine Chapel sort of art, I love stuff like the "tard" icon Harli made me too.)
2. Furrin candy. I looooooooooooooooooove chocolate from outside the USA. Heck, chocolate from inside the USA is good too! And things which aren't chocolate, but are edible and sugary. Mmmm.
3. A Poad. I have the Butternut Poad, but I would adore a second Poad. You can never have too many Poads, and I really would love to have them all someday...
4. A curled dragon. I currently don't have any of these! The violet flame and pearly pink are my two first choices.
5. Ponies from my wish list. I would DIE of glee if I got any of the ponies on my wish list.
6. Any other ponies! Especially the re-released vintage anniversary ponies. Any of the three packs of these would be awesome! I've heard tell the rainbow ones have turned up in a few places, and I really would love a set. (I should say any pony but Pinkie Pie, please! I own one, and I'm trying to get rid of the evil fluffy pink thing.)
7. Little model wings. Sculpting wings is awesome, but a lot of work. I want to do a winged custom, and little resin or metal wings would be spiffy.
8. Any of the Unico DVDs. Yes, I know, they're very silly. I want 'em anyhow! Espcially The Fantastic Adventures of Unico and Black Cloud, White Feather, I have a VHS copy of The Island of Magic already. Needs to have English translation or subtitles though.
9. A Rainbow Boa. (I can dream, right?)
Hrm. I can't think of anything else I want, so I guess I'll stop there. I suppose I could add a Secret Keeper to the list, but given the price tag on those, I doubt there's much point...
Edit - I thought of a tenth thing!
10. A pelt or taxidermy critter. Most wanted on the pelt: bobcat or wolf. Second most desired a coyote or a fox other than gray. (Silver, blue, red, cross, crystal, whatever!) Third choice pretty much anything! On the taxidermy critter, of course most desired is a predator of some sort. (Bobcat, fox, bird of prey, etc.) Second choice a small omnivore like a ferret, or skunk. Third choice a small herbivore like a squirrel or rat or mouse or sparrow. Nothing big, I have nowhere to put anything larger than a bobcat at VERY largest. Skulls are neat too, though I have a gray fox, a bobcat, and a jackal already. I'm probably dreaming here, but hey, can't hurt to wish!!!
