Shinies for sale

I'll be listing these tomorrow on ebay, if nobody takes them home today. For you guys, I cut you a deal, because I like you, and I like avoiding the hassle of ebay sales. So shipping is $1 for any number of stones, inside the USA. Outside I'll have to look up postage costs for your country, but it shouldn't be much. Sorry I don't have exact weights, but the scale I got proved the adage that you get what you pay for, because it's not terribly accurate below a tenth gram, so for carat weights it's rather useless.
This is a first come, first serve kind of deal. Just say you want something, it's yours. Should you fail to send payment in a reasonable amount of time, I'll be most miffed though, so please only claim something if you're sure you want it.
Tourmalines $2

SOLD!
Blue topaz $1

SOLD
Star cut mystic topaz $.50

SOLD
Heart cut pink mystic topaz. $2

This thing is huge. Easily 5 carats. The color is lovely, it's eye clean, and it sparkles like woah, but there's a slight chip out of one side. I wasn't sure what it was, but I recently got a positive ID. It's a mystic topaz, which means it's actually white topaz, treated to have that pink color.
Midnight sapphire $1

SOLD
Pair of shallow cut amethysts $1

Nice big stones, but these are also second quality. The color is a pretty decent pale purple, but the cut is very shallow, so they don't sparkle the way they should.
Dark pink spinels $2

This photo shows WAY more detail than you can see with the naked eye, because I actually had no idea they were flawed at all until I took it. They're eye clean and sparkle wonderfully. Just don't put them under a loupe and you'd never know they weren't flawless.
Lab made padparadscha sapphire $3

Ah pads, my second favorite sapphire after star! I love 'em. This one is I believe two carats, nice and big, nice and bright, lovely color. The surface flaws you see there are just dust and fingerprints, and of course aren't visible to the eye anyhow.
Sunstones $2

I finally got a sunstone photo that shows the "flash" that they have. Nifty, isn't it? They both flash like that, but I could not get a photo where they were both at the right angle to do it.
Blue opal triplet $1

SOLD
Onyx cabochons $2

A nice pair of onyxes. What else is there to say about them?
Teardrop tanzanite $.50

SOLD
Four oval tanzanites $2

Four lovely tanzanites, totaling around half a carat for the set. Each one is 3-4mm long, and is included to a greater or lesser degree. Tanzanite is a hot commodity right now because it's a single source gem. Tanzania is the only place in the world that its found, so when it's mined out there, there won't ever be any more.
Two marquis tanzanites $1

Two nice tanzanites, a bit less included than the previous ones, though still not perfect. Each one is 4mm long, and weighs somewhere in the vicinity of .1 carats.
Four round tanzanites $2

Four little tanzanites, around .1-.05 carats each, 1-3mm across. Sadly the larger one is slightly chipped, otherwise it would be a really beautiful stone.
Five tiny blue sapphires $5

SOLD
Three tiny pink sapphires $3

SOLD
Flawless green sapphire $2

Still small but more like 3mm, this little sparkly sapphire is a very interesting shade of green, don't you think? Completely flawless to eye or loupe.
Eye-clean orange sapphire $2

The flaw here is so tiny I honestly an not sure it's there, but hey, I'm not going to claim it's flawless if there's any doubt. Orange is a rather prized sapphire color, and I can see why, this is really pretty!
Pair of dark blue sapphires $2

SOLD
Trio of golden orange sapphires $3

Three eye clean to flawless sapphires is a very nice golden orange. Tiny, as are all of these guys.
Four golden yellow sapphires $3

Yellow is a somewhat less valued color, but these are still nice sparkly gems. Two have some dark inclusions, but the other two are lovely, one
eye clean, the other flawless!
Five small blue flash moonstones $3

It's very hard to get photos showing the flash on all of them, and these are not first line stones, so the flash is pretty dim, but you can get an idea of what it's like from that first one there. Very nice! They're all somewhat smaller, the whole lot probably adds up to around three carats. Very pretty stones.
Blue flash moonstone 1 $1

Argh, cannot photograph the flash! *beats head against wall* It's there, I promise. It's a somewhat faint but still pretty flash.
Blue flash moonstone 2 $1

I completely fail at photography. See above.
Blue flash moonstone 3 $1

Also see above.
Blue flash moonstone 4 $1

Aaaaaaaaaaaaand see above.
Blue flash moonstone 5 $1

Marquis cut this time. Still failing.
Natural padparadscha 1 $4

Mmmmm pads. So pretty! This is a 100% natural roughly half carat padparadscha sapphire. Isn't it nifty? It's just a tiny bit too dark to be a perfect pad, but it's eye clean and very shiny!
Natural padparadscha 2 $5

Here's a better color, this is what a padparadscha really should look like, the lab one is ever so slightly too orange. Also half carat, eye clean, and just stunning!
Natural padparadscha 3 $4

And the last gem for the day, a third natural pad, also a little on the dark side and a little too red, but still lovely. A very pretty eye clean half carat of sapphire.
Oriental dragon needs TLC $50

I realize the price may seem high for a busted dragon, but they sell for four times this in mint condition. He needs some glue, and would be perfect for somebody who wants to strip and re-paint him. Shouldn't need any sculpting work, I've already repaired his arm, it's just that the glue came loose during shipping a while back, so it fell off again.
Whew! That's a lot of stuff, and there's still more waiting that I'll list when these are all gone. Hopefully I can actually support my gemstone habit this way.
(A note. I'm leaving up photos of sold items. Partly to show them off, and partly because if anybody is interested in them, it's quite possible I have, or can easily get, something similar. So if you want something that's already sold, feel free to ask if I've got more.)

Date: 2008-03-08 08:19 am (UTC)I've made my only shiny purchase for a while, though. A gorgeously-set emerald-cut watery blue aquamarine pendant in white gold. Small, delicate, and just perfect. It's from an AMAZING little store in a mall, of all places, where they sell vintage and estate jewelry. They had *gasp* reasonable prices! And the most gorgeous stuff ever! So dangerous. Shiny heaven! *faints, drooling*
