While I am making bemused public announcements, here's one that really needs saying.

If I have discussed making something with "SexyFoxy2394857" and I get a check in the mail from "David Smith" that doesn't have anything on it, just the check, addressed to me, guess what? I HAVE NO WAY OF KNOWING THAT DAVID SMITH IS SEXYFOXY, OKAY? I have literally DOZENS of conversations about orders every single week, and a LOT of them end with "well, I guess I'll go send you a check then, let me know when you get it." And so I am not going to get your check and go "Hey, a check, this must be from SexyFoxy" because it could also be the check from PinkKittyDragon or the check from Grrrwolfpuppy, or the check from.... (and most people who say they're going to pay me never do, funny thing.)

This also goes for paypal. Discussing a project with "XxgurlxX" and getting a payment with no information attached except the shipping address from "hotchica26@genericmail.com" DO NOT AUTOMATICALLY CONNECT IN MY BRAIN. I cannot read her mind from 1000 miles away and know that XxgurlxX uses hotchica26 as her paypal e-mail. I NEED TO BE TOLD THESE THINGS. Sure, I have her shipping address, but I don't know what I'm supposed to be shipping to it! (Also, for the love of small furry things, WHY do people send me payments with no shipping address? Seriously. Why?)

AND when I have just had a SALE on loonakits, putting in "for the loonakit" in the notes area doesn't help!

Putting in "for the custom tail" ALSO doesn't help. Ever. At any given moment I am making a dozen custom tails and have discussed the possability of making two or three dozen more.

I am sorry that I am absent-minded. But I think I would have to be super-human to be able to figure out who has just paid me for what when the payment arrives with NOTHING but a name I've never heard before and a return address that's completely unfamiliar. And no, having mentioned your real name to me once when we first met isn't going to mean I can figure it out. I'm fairly intelligent, but I do not have perfect recall.

*grouches*

It is not my fault if you never get the thing you paid for, when I have no idea what the flip the payment is for. I want to send you your item, I really do, but I can't just mail out something at random and hope it's the right thing, okay? And sorry, but there's no way I'm going to be snail-mailing you to ask what you wanted. Eesh. Half the time I'd end up ticking off customers doing that, because the return address is their parents', and they haven't told their parents they're furry. (Which also is something that bugs me, because HELLO you're buying a tail/plush/fursuit as an adult. They're going to figure it out eventually. Just tell them already and spare me the fretting about my packages needing to be unmarked already!) I do eventually e-mail the people with the orphaned paypal payments, but that brings up a whole 'nother thing that bugs the heck out of me, which is people who do not ever check the e-mail they use for paypal. WTF people? It's the e-mail where any correspondence related to things you have SPENT MONEY ON will be going. WHY would you not check it regularly?

I have several "orphan" payments right now, and they seriously annoy me, because I know eventually I'm going to get the "It's been a month, where is my tail?" angry/passsive-aggressive e-mail, and I really don't like those.

My faith in humanity takes another blow.

HAHA! I was just thinking about this this morning. I used to send paypal requests out so that *I* could put in the note and know what it is, but that was just too time consuming. Most people are good about the explanations, but some don't even send any at all and then I have to go back through my emails and match up the prices.

Or I'll get an IM or forum/gallery PM or LJ message with a change or discussion about their order/potential order and I have to use those clues to figure out who they are. Asking is my last resort (it just sounds so rude to me) unless they're being extremely vapid.

Well I'm glad.

But no, I know what you mean.

I haven't even gotten to the payment stage yet and I still get stuck with fail. I have some auctions on furbid and I keep getting asked "How much would it cost to ship this to blahblablah" But people don't tell me what they want me to find the shipping on.. -_-' So I'm like.. ahhh.. what'chu need?

I highly don't blame you here, atleast IF I order something from someone, I make sure all the details are everywhere so no one has to figure out who is this and make silly impoosible connections like that :)

but yikes, i feel sorry for the level of people u deal with they can't figure that out yet

I will be changing my name legally to KittyKatFunBallSquee and all my screen names to Ralph Merridew. This may help reverse the trend and at the very least cause a level of amusement.

It's simple.. People are dumb because they don't think about things from the viewpoint of the buyer/seller whatever the case may be. They forget that the person actually needs to know what email they are going to send payment via paypal pay, or that it might be convieant to attach the address to the payment or something too even tho they already posted it somewhere else.

People are stupid, and it pisses me off to. But if it makes you feel any better, I always go out of my way to make sure that there is no such confusion on any transactions I make over the internet's.

Does my method of telling ya to check yer e-mail when I send a payment via Payapl work?

Only because I remember who thebluedragon is. Otherwise I'd be looking at it a month later and going "and what was this one for again?" It's easier with repeat customers, because I have some clue who you are.

I got a few mystery payments myself back in the days when everything was money orders on eBay...so I always include a note with which auction it was when I pay people for stuff -- the number, not just "the thing with the whatsit". No auction number, then I say specifically what it was (usually copy-pasted from what they sent me). A little extra work makes for a lot less confusion, yes.

It's an insane conceit of so many customers/clients that they are your ONLY customer/client. I see it a hundred times a week myself, people who assume you know everything about them and only about them and that their issues are the only thing that concerns you. The times a client rings me and says something like "Fred has just done this!" Who is Fred? What is this? Why is it relevent? For that matter who are you? It's not like I have their files memorised.

It's sad to think, but some people really do think the world revolves around them
