Recent events, which you all probably don't care that much about, but which involve something I heard on the internet and actually had confirmed in person by a genuine expert yesterday, have created a situation where I could really stand to have some cash right now. And by "cash" I don't just mean money, I mean cash. Ones, tens, twenties, hundreds, in my little hands, ready to spend in an untraceable fashion. (No, I'm not buying drugs. Or anything else illegal. If you really want to know, I'll explain.)

Anyhow.... Since my last Loonakit sale was such a success, since I've finished all but one of the sale Loonakits (well, all but two, but one of those is an orphan payment, so I've no idea what I'm supposed to be making! If you ordered a Loonakit and sent me a check, without anything on it other than your address and "for the loonakit", please drop me a line, I have no idea who you are) and since a couple of people have said they're sad they missed the sale the first time around, I'm having another one! Slightly different terms though.

Pay me in cash, get 25% off of any Loonakit.
This deal is good for one week.
We have to agree on the details of your Loonakit, and the final price within seven days, however since payment needs to come by snail mail, you have up to a month to send it to me.
Loonakits should be finished and shipped within two weeks of my receiving payment.
As mailing coins is a bad idea, please round off any totals to even dollar amounts.

If there is enough interest, I may also extend this to tails, so if you would buy a tail with this deal, please let me know.

This deal is also extended to everything in my sales gallery*, including tails, orphan Loonakits, gemstones, spheres, tumbled stones, etc. Shipping prices are still the same though. Sales gallery can be found here: http://www.sparkcostumes.com/gallery/index.php?cat=4 (No, this is not retroactive on anything you've already claimed as yours. Yes you can claim something now and pay for it later, but it does need to be within a month, and with cash.)

To give you an idea of what 25% off means, the normal custom made character loonakits, which are usually priced at $25, would now be $19. The cheapest random Loonakits, normally $15, are now $11. The deluxe Tissavel fur Lynxakits, normally $40, are now $30, and the super-deluxe complex character Loonakits, such as the Cthulakit, which were $60 are now $45.

*P.S. For the gem and stone lovers reading: I've added a TON of new gems, and a bunch of spheres and things, including a large moonstone egg in the sphere section, and moonstone mini-spheres, as well as tiger iron, golden orange calcite, and picasso jasper.

Sure. Has to do with the silver market, basically. You can't buy .999 silver bullion with a credit card, it's cash only. So that's why cash specifically. Why right now has to do with the fluctuations of the market, and a future trend.

Silver is a little different from gold. Almost all the gold anybody has ever mined is still around. It gets melted down, made into stuff, sold, swapped, etc. but it's still in existence. And most of the gold mined is mined to be hoarded, as a backing for currency, as an investment, as a collector's item, whatever.

Silver, on the other hand, is an industrial metal. Most of the silver that's been mined throughout history has been used. From putting silvering on mirrors to making film to dozens of other industrial processes that involve silver, most of those processes effectively destroy it. So most of the silver mined goes straight into use.

The commodities market, however, does trade silver the same way it trades gold. You can buy stock in it, or you can buy actual coins and bars, and the price goes up and down, and it's an investment. But investment silver is tiny compared to investment gold.

The problem comes when you combine a few things. One, the dollar is really weak right now. Two, individuals are starting to invest in a big way, and not just corporations and big stock portfolio managers and such, people are doing it on their own. Three, there's a lot of economic uncertainty and so metals and other hoardable things have become a very attractive investment.

So individuals are starting to get into investing in silver in a big way, is what it boils down to. The demand for it is growing at a huge rate. I'd known all this all along. What I hadn't know was that somebody was price fixing. I don't quite understand why, and the articles I've read didn't really explain, but the result is obvious. Somebody is keeping the current price of silver artificially low. When the price is being held down, but the demand is climbing, what happens is a shortage. It hasn't hit yet, not really, but it's starting to kick in. Industrial use of silver is staying the same. Production of silver is staying the same. Demand for silver outside of industry is growing fast. Price is staying the same. And all over the world bulk dealers in silver have run out.

Which is what I confirmed yesterday. I went to buy a few ounces, and the fellow I bought them from said I was very lucky that he was willing to sell, because his supplier can't tell him when there will be more, and he doesn't have much left. Here, individually, he'll probably manage to get a shipment or two in, but all over the USA this is happening, possibly all over the world too, and eventually the means being used to fix the price artificially are going to fail under the strain of the lack of supply, and the price is going to skyrocket.

So if I want to invest any more (and I really do!) I've got to do it NOW before that happens and silver shoots up out of my price range as thoroughly as gold has.

D'oh. I missed the last sale, so of course this comes after me spending $20 on other pretty things. I can't really justify spending even MORE right now (when I still owe you for gemstones), so it looks like I'll have to miss out on this sale as well, unless I were to cancel or "trade" this order for my other. I'd hate to do that, though. Makes me seem like a flake. >.

*chuckles* Well, I may be extending this one periodically, depending on what the silver market is doing. :) Drop me a note when you have money, maybe, I can probably cut you some kind of deal any time.

I'd be happy to set that aside for you. Shipping's $4.60 if you want priority. (Call it $5) If you're content to wait, it should be $3 for first class.

All cash is fine and dandy! I was thinking of wearing this one for one day at CostumeCon next week, so, er... fine by me if you don't pay for it right away. :)
