Gray fox pelt.
Sep. 5th, 2008 03:28 amI'm thinking of selling my grey fox pelt. I've enjoyed and loved it (as have my cats, they think it's fascinating and always sniff it all over) but I could use a few extra bucks. The problem is that I'm having trouble figuring out a reasonable price. I got it in trade for some costume work, so I don't know what this particular pelt cost, and looking around the internet and ebay I see prices $13 to $80! So if you're interested, I guess make me an offer.
I might consider trading as well, but honestly I know most of the stuff on my deadthings wish list is worth WAY more than this, since most of what I want is small animal mounts, carnivore head mounts, unusual skulls, and carnivore pelts. (Would about kill for a wolf or bobcat pelt, but there's no way I can afford one. :( So sad.)
It has no lower jaw, no front legs, and no hind feet. Otherwise quite intact. It's case tanned, and the fur is very nice quality, though being a grey fox it's more of a smooth and sleek fur, rather than a fluffy fur.
Here's a photo (cat not included):

P.S. If anybody knows for sure what laws apply to shipping this guy internationally, let me know? For now I'm going to assume USA only.
Also! While I was googling about trying to find pricing on these, I found a nifty thing. "Grey fox" is more common, slightly, than "gray fox" though both are correct, but I tend to use "gray fox." So that's what I looked for first. And lo! If you google "gray fox pelt" currently the third result is ME! Specifically my fake gray fox project on Deviant art. How cool is that?

Date: 2008-09-05 03:21 pm (UTC)It's a nice pelt and I'd be intersted but it's prolly not something I want to risk ending through the border. A fox shouldn't be a problem but who knows.
