I think what's getting you is that most of the time huskies with barring (that's the marks down the nose) *don't* have it over the eyes unless they have a solid face- the eyes are in the white area OR have masking underneath, but aren't set in the bar area.
It's super-cute. I still want to commission a smooth collie plush one fo these days.
Well, I'm working off of cartoon fursona drawings with most of these. :P It's not the facial markings that concern me, it's the proportions. http://www.sparkcostumes.com/gallery/displayimage.php?album=lastup&cat=0&pos=2 shows it better. His body length vs. his leg length just doesn't seem right. Also husky ears aren't flopped, and these weren't supposed to, darn it.
(Oops, I assumed the ears were intentional. :P The size and shape and placement is perfect, though.)
Huskies should be 8:10 height to length, IIRC - they're rectangular, not square (the Malamute should be slightly closer to square) so yeah, I think that's a bit of your problem, but not really much- he's pretty close, especially for a puppyish style toon. If he were a real dog, I'd tell you to trim up his underline, which gives the appearance of a little more leg.One thing that helps, at least on paper, is also making sure there is an abdominal tuck- dog bodies aren't cylindrical. This is a PITA in 3D, though. The other thing is that his muzzle is SO broad, that combined with the little eyes- the markings make his muzzle appear even broader.
