24 year dragon
Jan. 25th, 2009 04:49 pm
I drew my first dragon when I was six years old. I used a toy diplodocus as a model. But I meant it to be a dragon, not a dinosaur. It had horns and spines and big claws. I thought it was pretty awesome.
I finished this dragon today. I am 30. I used several different photos of sauropod skeletons and a few illustrations of diplodocus, as well as referencing my original drawing to make sure I added the same sort of horns and spines and claws. The end result is very much like what was in my head when I drew the original.
I think I've come a long way in the last 24 years. Hopefully I'll continue to improve in the years to come.

Date: 2009-01-26 06:00 pm (UTC)It's neat to revisit something like that many years later! It's why I can't bear to get rid of old art that meant something to me... never know when one day I could redo it the way it was meant to look. :)
