I drew my first dragon when I was six years old. I used a toy diplodocus as a model. But I meant it to be a dragon, not a dinosaur. It had horns and spines and big claws. I thought it was pretty awesome.

I finished this dragon today. I am 30. I used several different photos of sauropod skeletons and a few illustrations of diplodocus, as well as referencing my original drawing to make sure I added the same sort of horns and spines and claws. The end result is very much like what was in my head when I drew the original.

I think I've come a long way in the last 24 years. Hopefully I'll continue to improve in the years to come.

Wow! I love the angled view on him and the sense of musculature. Good job. :)

Thanks!

Of course I'm already seeing problems with him. :P It's never perfect!

I like a lot of things about this picture. Like others have said, the angle and musculature are nice. I also really like the colors, the shading, and the expression on his/her face. You honestly draw a lot better than you've given yourself credit for.

WOW! That looks like it ought to be in a book about dinosaurs. Or on a TV show.

Superb. I only wait in suspense to see what could possibly be better.

I also agree, good choice of perspective. Something fairly challenging to accomplish, and gives the dragon a more dynamic look. Great colouring job too.

It's neat to revisit something like that many years later! It's why I can't bear to get rid of old art that meant something to me... never know when one day I could redo it the way it was meant to look. :)

An excellent demonstration of showing how much you've improved over time. And it'll be even better in a few more years time.
