Woot!

I really hated how low quality the first DVD release was. Also never knew that the author didn't get royalties from the movie, so I'll definitely be supporting him by buying a copy from these guys and not through Amazon.

I'm stoked though! A version of The Last Unicorn that doesn't suck! Where presumably the colors are actually balanced and everything. (Augh the reds in the old version drive me crazy!)

Oh, it's truly an excellent DVD! I got it with my birthday money last November and just love it. The color is spot on perfect, and the sound is really high in quality! There is also some fun little bonus features including an interview with the author!

I do believe that's the DVD release from last February. If so, I personally wasn't terribly happy with it because they edited dialogue out (apparently "damn" is too harsh for kids today... it totally ruins Molly's rant at the unicorn the way they sliced it out). The sound pitch is also off because they used the European version (to get the widescreen) which runs at a different rate. Some people don't notice the sound difference, but I'm sensitive to such changes and find it intensely irritating to hear voices and music I know so well sounding distinctly different.

It was nice to get to see the color and picture improvement though, AND widescreen for the first time ever! I was just disappointed with the other changes I wasn't expecting...
