Just curious... does anybody reading this grow carnivorous plants? There doesn't seem to be much going on on lj about them, really.

P.S. Asking in part because I'm interested in trading my art/sewing for seeds, leaf pulls, cuttings, extra plants etc. if people have them. :)

Hi. I don't think I count, because I just got the shipment of my first carnivorous plants. I ordered from www.cobraplant.com/ . I am pleased with my plants. They are mere babes, I couldn't afford to get big ones. I was surprised at what will grow in full sun in my garden here in Michigan. (pitcher plants, flytraps, and sundews.) I also got 2 asian pitcher plants that have to be house plants.

Cobraplant has a great system to help you find out what will grow where.

*nods* I'm not so much looking for information as I am looking for people who might be interested in trading cuttings, seeds, extra plants, etc. :) As usual I want more plants than I can afford to buy.

Well, we'll have to see if my pitcher plants produce seeds after they flower. They are semi dormant at the moment, though the largest of them has 2 flower buds on it.

Spiffy. Which species of pitcher plants do you have?

Sarracenia flava
S.leucophylla 'Tarnok'

The first is a yellow green, the second is a mottled red.

*nods* I've seen pictures of both.

I have some, but I doubt Customs would take too kindly to me posting bits of them about the place!

Yes, international shipping is a bit sticky in this case. Too bad, really.
