Halo last night was fun, I only placed last once or twice, and I actually got a few kills. (I had a sniper rifle for a long time and I was having lots of fun, but then I got sniped by somebody else. Oh well.) And while they were setting up things when the fourth x-box arrived, Darrel and I did a little head-to-head with rocket launchers (whee!) and I was wiping the floor with him when we had to quit.

Can I say that I sometimes feel like I'm the only girl who reads fantasy, like computers, plays video games, and all that stuff? There just don't seem to be very many female geek types out there. At these Halo things I'm generally one of two girls (the other being one of the guy's fiance) among the sixteen players. I wonder if that's just my perception, or if there really are less girls who do that kind of thing?

Unfortunately, it tends to be so. That's why, as they say, female geeks and engineers become irresistable at the age of consent, and remain that way until 30 minutes after clinical death. More, if it's a warm day.

Well, the male of the species isn't exactly beating down my door, so I'll have to take your word on that one.

Well, I can't really say that human relations are my strong point. Now, if you wanted to know how the bending moment relates to the torsional forces, I'm your Bob.

'tis true, sadly - I think the problem is that the news and media industries have equated video games with random violence (DOOM) (there was actually a court-room ruling that stated that games couldn't be literature because none of them had any literary merit. This was based on a review of six games, including Mortal Kombat...), Sci-Fi with half-naked space chicks and spaceships blowing up, idea of shooting people up, and computers have been equated with video games, Sci-Fi, and male geeks with acne, large glasses, and pocket protectors.

Amen.

Hell yeah, we need more female geeks, as it seems my only chance is with them :Þ

Among the nearly two thousand M:TG players I've seen, do you know how many of them were girls? Four. Which makes it, um, 0.002% of the total O_o
