Well, midnight has passed, and it seems I survived the zombie attack, though I was right about the buses, they got JJ.

(That whole thing was quite amusing!)

Anyhow, I am up and down and all over the place today. Also Kali is being a little hyperactive nutjob. I still laugh to think I got her instead of a kitten, because an adult cat would be calmer and cause less trouble. Right. Keep alternating between being kind of hyper and being depressive. And nobody appreciates my genius! Except a couple of people on lj. I guess MLP fans and Pink Floyd fans do not have a huge overlap... I mean I did get a lot of postive remarks, but given that I see more or less the same remarks being given on every custom pony on that group, however bad, it just doesn't have much impact.

Pony buying is threatening to become an epidemic. I mean... there are ebay auctions for just $5 or so, even with shipping sometimes. It's not like Windstones where you've got to scrape up $30 for even the smallest and most common. I'm resisting the urge to start collecting again, but I have bid on several things for custom bait. *crosses fingers*

I don't feel comfortable showing him off on the Windstone forums just now, given the recent explosion of drama over repaints, so I'll just show off here.

Midnight Blue Pearl )

He's for sale, make an offer. As always, if I decide the offers aren't high enough, I'll just keep him, he's pretty spiffy.

Aha!

I have just had a realization. After a get my ball python, my mother will never visit me again.

And neither will JJ's mother.

*grin* Free!

Three things:

1. For anybody who's selling My Little Ponies. "Minty" is the name of a specific pony. "Minty" is also a flavor. "Minty" is not a condition! Either a pony is mint, or it's not mint, there is no "minty." And using the name of a pony as a condition descriptor is needlessly confusing.

2. To everybody who sells collectibles on ebay: Mint = exactly like it came from the factory. Mint is perfect. Mint is never dirty, mint hasn't got fleabites, mint doesn't have writing on the bottom or ratty hair. Mint hasn't got paint rubs or smudges or fading. Mint is perfect. Say "nearly mint" if you must (and not minty!) but do not call it mint unless it is truly, completely, utterly MINT. (Ideally mint really is only mint in box, but with things that have been display only and never played with, I'll accept mint without the box. This is not generally the condition of so-called "mint" ponies though. Mint appears, to some people, to mean "no huge defects.")

3. For crying out loud people! Do not sell me something that weighs a couple of ounces and which I have seen with shipping from England for $3, and charge $10 shipping from two states over! You make it look like such a deal when you price it at just $1 for $5 worth of pony, but I see what you're doing, and you're making a disgusting profit off of shipping, which is just plain dishonest, in my book. I refuse to buy from you people.

Okay, so I'm going to collect ponies. I give in! I still have my original four, of course, and now my Pink custom, and the various in progress customs lying about, but I've decided that yes, I'm going to collect non-custom pones.

But only very specific ones. If I just ran around collecting at random, I could end up with hundreds, thousands even, and not have a complete set! I want a list that there's an end to, that I can get down to the point where I'm looking for half a dozen of the rare ones and that's it. And really most of the ponies I see interest me not at all. They were nice when I was a kid, but I still have the ones I was actually sentimental about. Though I suppose actually I would also like a blue baby ember. I had her as a kid, and lost her. I suspect my brother of doing something horrible to her and then hiding her so I wouldn't find out.

But anyhow, I'm going to collect male ponies. They're the least common broad category, they're the look I like best anyhow, and they're the least girly and froofy as well. I'm also going after families. I took a quick look through a couple of pony guides, and compiled a list.

There 'tis. Now I need a pony icon, for pony posts... Until I get one, the marching hammers will have to do. It's related. *grin*
