Things to note today:

1. Aloe vera gel when added to baking powder residue looks a lot like iodine.

This was discovered due to the fact that I got stung by a wasp today. (Ow ow ow ow ow!!!!) I put damp baking powder on it, as a home rememdy, and went to work. It helped a bit, but it still stung some after, so I pulled a leaf or spine or whatever you call it off our aloe-vera plant and smeared some on the spot. Five minues later it had turned iodine yellow. Odd.

2. Steel plates are nifty! Also heavy. But nifty.

Somebody at work was throwing away four pakcages of file dividers. These are things used in metal filing cabinets to separate sections, and consist of steel plates or varying sizes, depnding on the cabinet in question. I didn't open any of the packages, but from the look of them I'd say I have 4 dozen or so 12" X 16" 1/16" thick plates. Or maybe 2 dozen 1/8" ones, though I doubt they'd need anything that heavy duty so probably not. He he he. I will find a good use for these, oh yes.

3. Wasps are evil, see #1

4. I will never have to clean out an examining table again! Yeeeeeeee! He he he. Free, free, freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Yep. When I turned up for work today, my replacement was there to be shown the job, so today I showed it to her and tomorrow she starts, and I am freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!

I'm still trying to decide what exactly this nefarious usage will entail. I want to take the technical 3-D sculpture course at the university that involves things like foundry techniques though, and I'm sure something will come to me once I do...

Despite the fact that it wasn't really an industrial arts class, Theory and Applications of Welding Methods and Techniques was definately my favorite course...
