I recently realized that I have a little snippet of OCD. Or rather, I should say I have a little bit of obsessive compulsive nature. It's not OCD unless it's a disorder, and of course to be a disorder it has to affect your quality of life in some significant way. Which this doesn't.
I just like to sort things. Particularly candy, although also books, fabrics, art supplies, and just about anything else, really. I always sorted my candy as a child. I'd get a bunch of candy that was in some way varied, like runts flavors, or jelly belly flavors, and I'd sort them out into little piles of the same flavor. Then I'd go through and make groupings, taking one of each kind. Then I'd eat all the ones there were left overs of first, because they were extra. And then I'd go through and eat the ones left in a specific order, ending with the last group of one of each kind, eating those in reverse order of how much I like them, so that the very best one was the last one I ate.
It's not a compulsion, exactly. I don't have to eat them this way, and if, for example, I'm given a handful of jelly bellies in public, I'll just eat them normally. But sorting them and eating them in the "correct" order is ridiculously satisfying.
Well, right now I have a whole bag of jelly bellies that need sorting, bye.
